The PSA group, in the race towards the merger with FCA to give life to the megagroup Stellantis, is keeping faith with its “raison d’etre”, that is, ensuring safe, sustainable and accessible mobility solutions, offers various opportunities related to individual transport.

In particular, the Peugeot brand, which this year celebrates its important 210-year anniversary, has one goal: a complete range of electrified models (including both pure electric and plug-in hybrids) by 2023. bearing fruit, such as the two electric 208 and 2008 or the hybrid 508 (sedan and station wagon) and 3008 with two and four wheel drive. But the technicians of the French Lion have been working on this project for some time, we remember the great step forward made with the modular and multi-energy Cmp (e-Cmp) platform that allows the development of cars with electrified powertrains on the same production line.

Speaking of platforms, the Transalpine group (to which Citroën, Ds and Opel also belong) has announced that the vehicles of the C and D segments, ranging from sedans to SUVs and which will be launched worldwide from 2023, will benefit of a new high performance electric platform, eVMP “Electric Vehicle Modular Platform”. This will allow to house batteries from 60 to 100 kWh (i.e. obtain a greater range of kilometers) positioning itself as a reference point in the electric vehicle market and will therefore be able to offer a fully electric range which, depending on the model, goes from 400 km to 650 km (Wltp cycle). Furthermore, in order to provide a performing and adaptable solution to any mobility need anywhere in the world, hybrid derivatives may be offered in some markets, based on this electric platform. Finally, in a logic of verticalization of electrical components, this platform integrates the components developed and produced within the Psa Group or with its joint ventures on electric motors.

One of the boosts of the Lion brand was the launch of the 3008 and 5008 suv, positioning itself now as a leader in the compact high wheeled vehicle market. It has entered the C segment of sport utilities a few years ago and has already achieved important results. After the critical successes that led suv 3008 to win many international awards including the highly coveted Car of the Year 2017 award, the market successes arrived: 100 thousand units sold in Italy between 3008 and 5008. The first, thanks even at its debut on the market a few months before the second (end of 2016), it won almost 85 thousand customers in our country, while 5008 from its debut in mid-2017 has been chosen by over 15 thousand Italians.

Since the beginning of the year, the Peugeot 3008 has been firmly on the podium of the C SUV segment in Italy, where it is the best-selling European brand sport utility, with an 8.5% share. The 5008 SUV, for its part, continues to be the best-selling high-wheeled vehicle with 7 seats as standard in our country.
