The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand is cutting back production in some areas at the Wolfsburg plant from next Monday (night shift). Component supply sections of the Volkswagen Group Components plant at Brunswick are also affected.
This is attributable to a sudden production failure at a German seating foam supplier due to corona infections among the workforce and the resulting measures required by the authorities.
Volkswagen is working very intensively on countermeasures and alternatives in order to minimize the impact. Vehicles that cannot now be produced in Wolfsburg will be built as quickly as possible so that they can be delivered to customers as usual.
Volkswagen will be applying for short-time working for the employees affected. Management and the Works Council have reached agreement on this.
