Every robot, drone, and autonomous vehicle faces a fundamental challenge: understanding its location and nearby objects so that it can map and navigate around its environment. Founded in 2016, SLAMcore is tackling this problem by developing “spatial intelligence” solutions for robots and machines using simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithms that analyze sensor information.
Based in the United Kingdom, SLAMcore has been a part of the Toyota AI Ventures portfolio since 2017. After raising a $5M Series A financing round in 2020, the company is scaling operations and expanding the team. If you’re interested in contributing to SLAMcore’s mission to deliver spatial intelligence, read on to learn about these two jobs available on the Toyota AI Ventures jobs board: senior robotics product manager and software-as-a-service (SaaS) sales manager.
Senior Robotics Product Manager (London, United Kingdom)
As the senior robotics product manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of products to allow customers to create the next generation of autonomous machines, thereby playing a critical part in helping SLAMcore meet or exceed its commercial goals. It’s an exciting opportunity to develop, maintain, and communicate the product vision and roadmap for this fast-growing company. This hands-on role requires you to gain a deep understanding of the customer’s needs, and to prioritize and turn those insights into requirements to direct technical development. You will work cross-functionally, aligning internal stakeholders on product release plans, and building strong relationships with key strategic customers. You will also report on customer satisfaction, in addition to supporting and driving the growth of the product management team.
The ideal candidate has proven experience with product management in autonomous robot or drone-related technologies, and is comfortable leading and engaging in highly technical discussions with customers and internal teams. It’s important to have commercial software development experience and a successful track record in product management of multiple software products. SLAMcore is also looking for someone with experience defining and communicating product roadmaps, as well as a technical understanding of positioning and mapping technologies. In addition, familiarity with embedded systems, cloud computing, and agile software development processes is needed. A master’s degree or doctorate in computer vision or robotics, or a master’s in business administration, is a bonus.
SaaS Sales Manager, Robotics (London, United Kingdom, or temporarily remote)
Working directly with SLAMcore’s chief commercial officer, the SaaS sales manager is responsible for managing the entire sales process from start to finish. It’s a perfect role for a proven sales professional who enjoys the ins and outs of qualifying prospects, conducting customer meetings with demos, creating and running presentations, building and maintaining customer relationships, and tailoring products and services to qualified clients. You will determine the clients’ business requirements, decide whether the solution needs adapting, and work with engineering on execution. As their go-to contact, you will also answer commercial and high-level technical questions from prospects and clients. Other responsibilities include preparing sales team meetings and representing the company by speaking at trade shows and conferences.
This role requires three to five years of experience in SaaS sales or technical sales, with a demonstrated record in successfully selling software to enterprises or small-to-medium sized businesses. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronic engineering, or a similar discipline is a bonus, as is knowledge of autonomous robotics, original equipment manufacturers, and/or consumer electronics markets. Deep experience with online SaaS sales to businesses is also a plus.
