In Piazza Affari – where the Fiat stock debuted in 1903, then giving way to FCA in 2014 after the acquisition of Chrysler – in the last trading session before the birth of Stellantis, the decline for FCA was 4.35% to 12.57 euros. Also in Paris Peugeot registered a decline of 4.21%.
FCA will pay its shareholders an extraordinary dividend of € 1.84 linked to the merger, while Stellantis could distribute an additional coupon in light of the company’s prospects. Tavares will be presenting the new group at a digital press conference on Tuesday afternoon at 3.40 pm during which the CEO will answer questions from journalists and industry experts.
Not everything will be revealed yet because Tavares is still working on the Stellantis industrial plan which could be ready before the summer. It is therefore difficult for precise indications to arrive on models, platforms to be shared and the mission of the plants. The manager could instead give answers on the strategies and objectives of the new group that aims to become a leader in sustainable mobility and to achieve 5 billion synergies a year.
Stellantis, which has a strong position in both Europe and America, will have to face the challenge on the Asian market, China in the lead. The unions have already asked for a meeting in Tavares because they want guarantees on the employment and production of the Italian factories.
