@VW Group: America’s Best SUV Bumper-to-Bumper Transferable Warranty arrives on the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas & Tiguan For most Americans, a car w…

For most Americans, a car will be the second-largest purchase they make in their lifetimes, behind only a home. It’s a commitment not just of money, but time and resources. Published research shows the average new-car buyer holds onto his or her vehicle for six years – yet most bumper-to-bumper warranties don’t last nearly so long, leaving owners potentially exposed to repair bills for manufacturer defects or unease for the next owner when they choose to sell it.

Today, Volkswagen took a step to avoid such pitfalls for owners of the new 2018 Volkswagen Atlas seven-passenger SUV and the upcoming 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. Both will come with a six year/72,000-mile (whichever occurs first) New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which just happens to be America’s best SUV bumper-to-bumper transferable Warranty.*

“We know we’re reaching out to new customers with the Atlas and the Tiguan,” says Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO of the North American Region, Volkswagen. “We want to remove potential reservations that might keep them from joining the Volkswagen family.”

The bumper-to-bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the 2018 Atlas and Tiguan runs for six years or 72,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty is inclusive of powertrain components. For example, the 3.6-liter V6 engine in the Atlas and the optional 4Motion® all-wheel-drive system in the Tiguan are included in the New Vehicle Limited Warranty bumper-to-bumper coverage. It also provides peace of mind regarding advanced technology like the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit or Fender Premium Audio System.

Major SUV competitors to the Atlas and Tiguan offer shorter bumper-to-bumper warranties, typically three years or 36,000 miles, with additional powertrain coverage up to five years or 60,000 miles. Not only is the Volkswagen SUV bumper-to-bumper warranty longer than its competitors, all of its elements can be transferred to subsequent owners up to 6 years or 72,000 miles, whichever occurs first. While a few makes offer a five-year/60,000 mile basic warranty and a higher time and mileage limit on their Powertrain Limited Warranties, if the car is sold to a second owner, the Powertrain Limited warranty is not transferable beyond five years or 60,000 miles from the date it was first sold new.

In short, Volkswagen’s transferable, 2018 SUV New Vehicle Limited Warranty (which includes coverage of powertrain components) is longer, in years and mileage, than its competitors.*

“This warranty shows that Volkswagen has real confidence in the quality of our new SUVs,” Woebcken added.
