Roof rack system can come off the roof of the vehicle
Date 05.03.2021
Flensburg, March 5, 2021. The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) warns against using the THULE Rapid Fixpoint XT KIT with the model numbers 3049, 3073, 3123, 3130, 3136 and 3144. The product mentioned for attaching roof rack systems for certain vehicle models ( see table) was sold in the period from December 16, 2019 to March 13, 2020. Thule is conducting a voluntary recall for these products.
A defective batch of screws could result in the roof rack system not being properly secured on the vehicle. There is a risk that the roof rack system could, under certain circumstances, become partially or completely detached from the vehicle.
The Thule Rapid Fixpoint XT Kit was sold through the aftermarket through authorized Thule dealers.
This affects Thule Rapid Fixpoint XT Kits for the following vehicle models:
The dealers and service partners were informed of the recall in April 2020 and asked to exchange the affected Fixpoint Kits. However, it has not yet been possible to find these fixpoint kits in full.
The KBA requests all users of these Thule Rapid Fixpoint XT Kits not to use them any more before the defect is rectified.
Please contact the dealer from whom you purchased the product or the Thule Group at fixpointxtkits@thule.com
