Citroën scoops three category awards in the 2021 DieselCar & EcoCar ‘Top 50’, with four models in all named among the ‘Top 50’ cars on sale in the UK.
All-new Citroën ë-C4 is named ‘Best Electric Medium Car’.
Citroën Berlingo wins ‘Best Utility Vehicle’.
Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer is voted ‘Best MPV’.
Finally, Citroën C5 Aircross SUV ranks in the top 25.
Citroën wins multiple accolades in this year’s DieselCar & EcoCar magazine ‘Top 50′. The Citroën brand’s new 100% electric C-segment hatchback – New ë-C4 – is named ‘Best Electric Medium Car’, and New C4 ranks 49th in the title’s overall list of the best models on sale in the UK this year. New ë-C4 is joined by Citroën Berlingo, which is awarded ‘Best Utility Vehicle’, and Grand C4 SpaceTourer, which takes home the ‘Best MPV’ award.
Citroën Berlingo and Grand C4 SpaceTourer placed 42nd and 47th respectively in the ‘Top 50’ listing, whilst C5 Aircross SUV was also included, taking its place in 25th position.
DieselCar & EcoCar magazine commended New Citroën C4 on the style that the model has introduced to the family hatchback sector, as well as its practical all-electric credentials. Launched in February 2021, New ë-C4 is the latest electrified model to be launched by the brand, following on from Citroën C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid, ë-Dispatch van and ë-SpaceTourer MPV. By 2025, Citroën will offer an electrified version of each model in its range.
Powered by a 50kWh battery, and a smooth136hp electric motor, New ë-C4 has an impressive WLTP electric range of up to 217 miles from a full charge. It can also support CCS rapid charging for an 80% re-charge in just 30 minutes with a 100 kW rapid charger. For regular home charging, a Type-2 charging cable is included as standard, allowing a regular 7.4kW charger to reach a 100% charge in seven hours and 30 minutes.
Ian Robertson, editor of DieselCar & EcoCar magazine, said: “Citroën is a revolutionary brand, and now it has decided to change its approach to the family hatchback. The C4 is taller than a Golf or Focus, with SUV-style features that are oh-so-trendy. It drives differently too, thanks to clever suspension that soaks up imperfections and offers the best ride in its class. Another bonus is the availability of PureTech petrol and BlueHDi Diesel engines, along with the all-electric ë-C4. The latter offers an impressive range and smart acceleration away from the line, along with excellent refinement. It’s a winner for company car drivers and our judges alike.”
Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer is named ‘Best MPV’ for the second year running, having won the ‘Best Medium MPV’ accolade for the four years prior to that. The judges continue to be impressed by the model’s stylish design, competitive pricing and hugely practical interior.
Rounding off Citroën’s award wins is the hugely practical Berlingo MPV. The judges praised Berlingo as the benchmark family-friendly, affordable and versatile utility vehicle. Citroën Berlingo provides drivers with a practical and comfortable product offering, available in two body lengths – the largest of which can seat up to seven (‘XL’ versions). At the same time, Berlingo offers an array of technologically advanced driver assistance systems. DieselCar & EcoCar magazine also referenced the newly announced all-electric ë-Berlingo that is due to launch later this year. New ë-Berlingo features a 50kWh battery and a 100kW (136hp) electric motor, allowing the forthcoming new model to achieve a range of up to 174 miles (WLTP).
Eurig Druce, Managing Director of Citroën UK, said: “I am pleased to hear that DieselCar & EcoCar magazine included four of our cars among this year’s list of Top 50 models. I am especially proud to see New Citroën ë-C4, with its 100% electric drivetrain, named as the ‘Best Electric Medium Car’. It is a true testament to all the hard work that has gone into developing our electric vehicle range.”
The DieselCar & EcoCar magazine ‘Top 50’ is a listing of the best and most accomplished cars on sale in the UK this year. The winners are selected using a rigorous and all-inclusive scoring system to guarantee that the front-runners are truly the top cars in each category.
