Yannick Pontal, star rider of the Cycles PEUGEOT team finished 2nd at the end of the first round of the French MTB Enduro Cup, Sunday 20th June in Val d’Allos (Alpes de Haute Provence). His teammate Mathieu Ruffray finished 6th in a fierce competition. With this success, Cycles PEUGEOT, sponsor of the French Cup, demonstrates the quality, robustness and performance of its mountain bikes. The next meeting will take place on the 3rd and 4th of July for the second round of the French Mountain Bike and e-Mountain Bike Cup in Risoul (Hautes Alpes).
Yannick Pontal started the 2021 MTB Enduro season with a podium in the first round of the French Cup, for his first participation in the PEUGEOT Cycles Team. He was the leader for a long time, but finished one second behind the winner after a fall in the last stage. His team mate Mathieu Ruffray finished in a magnificent 6th place in this race which brought together 370 riders under stormy weather conditions. In Val D’Allos, the drivers faced 1,600 meters of positive altitude difference and 5,000 meters of descent during 11 timed special stages over two days.
“It’s clear we would have all signed up before for a result like this. The training and development work carried out this winter on our bike is already visible. And I would like to say a huge thank you to our physio for his support, help and preparation. Without him we wouldn’t have achieved such a result” said Yannick Pontal, Cycles PEUGEOT driver.
The PEUGEOT Cycles Team riders could rely on their PEUGEOT M01 FS mountain bike (M=Mountain, 01 = top of the range, FS = Full Suspension). This versatile Enduro mountain bike is efficient on all terrains, with its suspensions allowing a committed riding (170 mm of clearance at the front and 160 mm at the rear). It has been tested during the winter by riders to ensure its performance, robustness and reliability.
In 2021, PEUGEOT is once again a partner of the French Mountain Bike and e-Mountain Bike Enduro Cup. The brand is visible on the trackside, on the podium and on social networks. The rounds of the Enduro races take place over one or two days during a weekend. The routes include a majority of technical descents with steep, explosive climbs in the special stages and long connecting climbs to reach the start of the various timed special stages.
The next three rounds of the French Mountain Bike and e-MTB Enduro Cup will take place on the 3rd and 4th of July in Risoul (Hautes Alpes), the 21st and 22nd of August in Thollon Les Mémisses (Haute Savoie) and the 18th and 19th of September in Chamonix (Haute Savoie).
