Chevrolet Upgrades Blazer SUV in China with Standard 48V Mild Hybrid Technology

2021-08-27

SHANGHAI – Chevrolet today announced the upgrade of the Blazer in China with 48V mild hybrid technology as standard. Two five-seat variants and five seven-seat variants as well as the sporty Redline and RS trims are available. They are priced between RMB 259,900 and RMB 329,900.

The mid-large SUV was launched in the domestic market in April 2020. The upgraded variants come with GM’s eighth-generation Ecotec 2.0 intelligent variable cylinder turbocharged engine, which delivers maximum power of 174 kW @ 5,600 rpm and maximum torque of 350 Nm @ 1,500-4,000 rpm, as well as a nine-speed Hydra-Matic transmission.

They add a 48V mild hybrid system consisting of a 48V motor, 48V power battery, power management module and hybrid control unit. The system has five working modes: Auto Start, E-boost, Smart Charge, Brake Energy Regeneration and E-idle.

With the mild hybrid system, the Blazer 48V brings a more efficient, agile and smooth driving experience. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and has combined fuel consumption of 7.1 liters/100 kilometers under NEDC conditions.

Combined with the industry-leading Twin-Clutch all-wheel-drive system and five-link independent rear suspension system, which are comparable to systems found in luxury brand sports models, the Blazer 48V not only achieves an efficient balance of powerful performance and fuel economy, but also provides a pure American SUV experience.

An additional feature in the Blazer is Chevrolet’s new MyLink+ in-vehicle infotainment system, which completed 22 over-the-air remote functional updates this year. Through the support of iFlytek, China’s top artificial intelligence voice expert, it provides users with intelligent and convenient car connectivity services.

Blazer owners are entitled to 100G of free OnStar connectivity data service every year. They also receive an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty for major engine and transmission parts.

The Blazer is Chevrolet’s third model with 48V mild hybrid technology in China, joining the Orlando seven-seat and five-seat MPV and Monza sporty compact sedan.
