In August 2021, 19,428 LADA passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia, which is by 32.6% less than in August 2020 (including Niva cars produced in 2020 by LADA West Togliatti). Decline of sales results was a direct consequence of the global shortage of semiconductors, which affected most manufacturers. The shortage of electronic components, that mostly influenced LADA Granta family manufacturing, has also made changes to the top three list of sales. In August, the bestseller of the LADA model range was the Vesta family with a result of 6,882 cars sold. The second place was occupied by cars of the LADA Granta family – 5,007 cars. In third place are the models of the Niva family, sales amounted to 3,438 cars.”AVTOVAZ, like many automobile plants all over the world, is experiencing a shortage of supplies of necessary electronic components. The company is applying all possible efforts to tackle the situation and restart regular manufacturing of cars as soon as possible. Obviously, it will take some time to return to normal production mode and may lead to a longer term of deliveries of cars to dealerships,” – said Nicolas Maure, President of AVTOVAZ.
