SHANGHAI – With the return of its signature sports car and pickup truck, as well as a new take on the dynamic lifestyle they lead, General Motors is fully charged for its participation in the Fourth China International Import Expo (CIIE), which runs from November 5-10 in Shanghai.

GM is welcoming visitors to embark on a journey of unlimited possibilities to create a shared better future for personal mobility and fulfill their own life aspirations through its display of evolutionary products and revolutionary technologies, including the hyperscale Ultium electric vehicle platform.

“The positive feedback we received for our halo products shown at the first three CIIE has been tremendously helpful to our business planning,” said Julian Blissett, GM executive vice president and president of GM China. “We are making steady progress in introducing the displays at CIIE to the domestic marketplace to satisfy the increasingly diversified needs of local consumers in the era of high-quality development.”

“This is also an era of technology transformation, one that is empowering us to offer new value propositions for our iconic nameplates as electrification and intelligent connected driving become game-changing forces,” said Felix Weller, GM China vice president of Premium Import. “The all-electric path that we are laying at CIIE is one of many that will accelerate the arrival of the carbon peak and carbon neutrality. It is our answer to a global call to action toward sustainability that includes China’s rising voices.”

The embodiment of unlimited possibilities

As the centerpiece of GM’s display, the Ultium platform is where the company’s technology strength, product variety and commitment to China come together to advance a greener, better and safer future for everyone. GM is encouraging CIIE visitors to step up and step forward for a journey toward zero emissions with Ultium as a new starting point.

Ultium provides the power, range and flexibility to make almost every vehicle an EV, and offer customers a diverse lifestyle. It also provides an ideal technical pathway for intelligent and connected driving.

The Ultium platform was developed by GM from the ground up with a core set of common components for maximum program versatility. Its pursuit of innovation, reliability and performance, as endorsed by world-renowned Chinese volleyball coach Lang Ping, represents the defining characteristics of GM’s future EVs.

Drawing on Ultium’s unmatched flexibility, GM aspires to eliminate tailpipe emissions from all new light-duty vehicles by 2035 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.

The unfolding of unlimited possibilities

Leading GM’s Ultium charge at CIIE is the GMC HUMMER EV, which is making its China debut. It defies the perception of a pickup by forging a new path toward zero emissions. The Edition 1 on display promises the unprecedented capability of HUMMER and a new chapter of sustainable development as an iconic American off-road nameplate.

In the Watts to Freedom launch mode that fully unleashes the power of Ultium, it can achieve supercar-like 0-100 km/h acceleration in about three seconds. Its unique CrabWalk diagonal-drive functionality and first-of-its-kind Extract Mode that activates the Adaptive Air Ride Suspension make it a master of all terrains.

The Chevrolet Silverado pickup, which will soon take the brand’s 100 years of truck expertise and leadership into the Ultium-powered era, is demonstrating its highest performance through the Trail Boss trim at CIIE.

This versatile pickup well suits China’s increasingly diversified lifestyles. It features tailored off-road content and a highly functional bed that offers 12 standard tie-downs and six different functions with the industry-first Multi-Flex tailgate.

It builds driver confidence through up to 15 available camera views and the segment-exclusive transparent trailer feature. It has a towing capability of over 6,000 kg.

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible promises an exciting journey of unlimited possibilities. Corvette’s relentless pursuit of performance, technical ingenuity and attainability have made it an American icon through eight generations.

The first-ever mid-engine and hardtop convertible from the nameplate has the same aeronautic design theme as the coupe, as well as exceptional storage capacity and track capability, making it a supercar for every day.

The 6.2L LT2 Small Block V-8 engine and Chevrolet’s first eight-speed dual-clutch transmission combine for the most no-compromise Corvette convertible in history. Its 0-100 km/h acceleration takes about three seconds when equipped with the Z51 Performance package.

General Motors (NYSE:GM) is a global company focused on advancing an all-electric future that is inclusive and accessible to all. At the heart of this strategy is the Ultium battery platform, which powers everything from mass-market to high-performance vehicles.
