Here at Xos, we’re always looking for ways to expand the commercial use cases for our vehicles. We’ve broached parcel delivery services, workwear delivery, and facility services, cash-in-transit delivery, and now, we’re proud to announce our trucks will be used for refrigerated beverage delivery.
Our newest partner to the Xosphere, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, submitted a recent purchase order for ten refrigerated trucks. We’re incredibly excited for the opportunity to help kick off sustainable transportation for Southern Glazer’s, a company steeped in tradition with pre-prohibition beginnings dating back to over a century.
Southern Glazer’s is a multi-generational, family-owned company with operations in 44 states. Founded in 1909, Southern Glazer’s, originally known as the Jumbo Bottling Company, had humble beginnings. Business operations were carried out from the back of a horse-drawn carriage selling soda water.
After the repeal of prohibition, the company began its alcohol distribution operations. Today, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits is the largest distributor of wine and spirits in the United States.
All ten refrigerated trucks will be delivered to Southern Glazer’s at their Dallas-Fort Worth distribution center. 70% of the food and drinks we consume are passed through the “refrigerated cold chain,” and we hope to see a transition toward sustainable transportation in this critical supply chain.
Xos is excited to work with Southern Glazer’s as we continue to search out new opportunities and new industries that can benefit from fully-electric fleets.
