@FCA: FCA Canada Reports Fourth-quarter and Full-year 2021 Results, Record Retail Sales Year for Jeep® Grand Cherokee and Jeep Gladiator

January 5, 2022 , Windsor, Ontario – FCA Canada today reported fourth-quarter 2021 sales of 39,198 vehicles. 91% of total sales were to retail customers, where sales were down 3% for the quarter compared with 2020. For the calendar year, 161,451 vehicles were sold, down 10% from 2020. Calendar-year retail sales represented 86% of the mix and were down 2% from the prior year. 
 
“Both our Jeep® and our Ram brands saw retail sales growth in Canada in 2021, in spite of unprecedented headwinds across the industry,” said David Buckingham, President and CEO. “It’s a testament not only to the strength of our award-winning products, but also to the hard work of our dealers, who continue to foster consumer confidence.”

For the fourth quarter of 2021, the Jeep brand reported retail sales gains of 12%. Total Jeep sales were 15,691, down from 16,000 vehicles sold in Q4 of 2020. Quarterly retail sales records were set for both Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Wrangler.

Bolstered by the momentum generated by all-new two- and three–row models, Jeep Grand Cherokee recorded a strong fourth-quarter retail sales growth of 56%, solidifying its position as the No. 1 selling full-size SUV for the quarter. Jeep Grand Cherokee remains the most awarded SUV ever.

For the calendar year, the Jeep brand saw a 9% growth from the prior year with 59,979 total vehicles sold. In terms of retail sales, there was a 20% increase from the previous year. Both Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Grand Cherokee set retail sales records in 2021, with sales gains of 6% and 36%, respectively. Other Jeep brand retail sales calendar-year highlights include Compass, up 47%, Jeep Wrangler up 10% and Cherokee up 9%.

For 2022, Jeep brand’s exciting, global push toward electrification will take another step, as the Grand Cherokee 4xe arrives. The PHEV is the most 4×4-capable and sustainable Grand Cherokee yet and is targeting to deliver an estimated 40 kilometres of all-electric range, an estimated 4.1 litres Le/100 km and a combined driving range of more than 700 km.

The Chrysler brand reported an increase for both the fourth quarter, as well as for the calendar year. Retail sales were up 110% for the calendar year.

Dodge Charger and Challenger retail sales were up 48% and 16%, respectively, for the calendar year. Dodge Durango led the brand with its retail sales more than doubling with gains of 159%.

The fourth quarter also saw Ram brand increase its retail sales 3%. In terms of light-duty pickup trucks, retail sales grew 7%, up from the same quarter of 2020. Ram’s momentum continues in 2022, with new models including the Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition, GT and the new Ignition Edition for the 702-horsepower Ram 1500 TRX.
