GM Canada Posts Record Cadillac Sales, Strong Utility Sales for 2021

Cadillac total sales up 7 per cent in 2021, driven by best retail sales in brand’s Canadian history

2022-01-05

OSHAWA, Ont. (January 5, 2022) Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers sold 39,355 vehicles in the fourth quarter, down 31 per cent year-over-year. Sales for the calendar year totaled 217,475 units, down only 0.5 per cent year-over-year despite sustained, industry-wide supply chain issues in 2021.

Sales highlights include the Cadillac brand and utility vehicles, demonstrating how GM Canada managed the industry-wide shortage of semiconductors by producing and delivering as many of its highest-demand products as possible. In addition, GM’s Global Connected Services continued to grow in Canada, with a record number of subscribers and a host of new products and services introduced in 2021.

“Despite continued inventory constraints the industry faced in 2021, GM delivered strong year-end sales results thanks to high customer demand across our portfolio,” said Sandor Piszar, vice president, sales, service and marketing, GM Canada. “General Motors and our dealers had several key accomplishments, including a record year for Cadillac sales and sales gains for many of our utility vehicles. In fact, GM Canada is on track to continue our decades-long leadership in fullsize SUVs.  Thanks to the resilience of our team and our dealer partners we’re looking ahead to more success in 2022.”

2021 Sales Highlights

  • Cadillac total sales were up 7 per cent in 2021, fueled by the best retail sales ever for the brand, up 6 per cent over 2020. Total sales highlights include:
