If the car, in fact, somehow managed to be marketed in Italy it was essentially due to Turbo Diesel, chosen as a company benefit for executives or even sold to state apparatuses, including the Presidency of the Republic, in this case equipped with the most powerful V6 needed to move the very heavy Protecta armored version. The behavior on the road was immediately judged to be unexceptionable: the whole chassis was new and designed to offer the maximum degree of that combination of comfort and driveability typical of Italian cars and much appreciated by those who love to drive, even if forced to a sedan.
Presented at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show, it used the long remainder of that year to fine-tune the production phases and promote the car with prolonged tests by the specialized press; the production of the specimens intended for customers did not begin until 2002; it is therefore only from this year that it is possible to acquire a ‘historic’ Lancia Thesis: an opportunity not to be missed, in our opinion, for all collectors of this inimitable brand.
In our opinion, if alongside a Flaminia, an 80’s Thema can also be missing, the absence of a Thesis would be a shame. In this regard, we would like to point out, among others, the 2006 (later 100th) Centenary Collection version with two-tone paint, specific 18 ”alloy wheels and red leather interior; not that it is particularly elegant, we prefer the Lancia Thesis in a more discreet single livery, but it is undoubtedly an even more exclusive version of a rare and individualistic car; only Diesel with automatic transmission was available, but, knowing the qualities of the Multijet 2.4 20V, this doesn’t seem like a problem. Prices, for now, under four thousand euros.
