MORE DEALERS JOIN IN THE UPGRADE EXERCISE – UPBEAT ON THE FUTURE OF PROTON

Subang Jaya, 28 March 2018 – The Company witnessed another round of the Dealers Network Upgrade agreement signing ceremony recently, held at the PROTON Centre of Excellence. Following the earlier two batches which were held in December 2017 and January 2018, this time, a total of 10 dealers will be upgrading their outlets to 3S and 4S.
Present at the ceremony were, Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON and Yohan Mokhtar, Director of Special Project of PROTON, who signed the agreements on behalf of PROTON.
Banking on the PROTON brand
Positive on the future, the Company is encouraged by the increasing number of dealers who are upgrading their outlets to 3S and 4S to serve their customers better and to ensure that customers get the best – top notch sales and services experience when they visit a PROTON outlet.

Dealers remain optimistic – upgrading of outlets is the way to go
Positive with the brand, existing dealers are taking their opportunities to grow with PROTON and the competition to keep customers satisfied has been the main agenda of many in the sales and service industry.
For Mohd Khairul Idzwan, of Rohamas Autoservices, “I believe the upgrading of outlet to 4S is inevitable. The order of the day is to serve customers better. This long term strategy will ensure that we can compete with other car brands around this vicinity, and elsewhere.”
On his confidence level of PROTON, he mentioned, “We look forward to the future Proton models. Clearly, we can win in terms of better pricing, better build quality and better design in our cars. We also have faith that the coming SUV model will capture the hearts of many, as currently we can see tests are being conducted on the roads, so I am sure the car that is delivered to the market will meet the requirements of most Malaysians”.
“Moreover, the success of a sell-out car depends on 10 (ten) factors. To me, it should comprise, durability, interior comfort, exterior styling, workmanship, quality, dealer convenience (one-stop centre), performance, advance technology, reputation of company as well as safety. From what I observe, the upcoming SUV has all that, so of course it will be a hit,” Mohd Khairul enthused when asked on whether the SUV will be a craze among Malaysians.
For Rozlan Abdul Manaf, of Wasilah Global Sdn Bhd, who has been in the auto business for more than ten years, he believes that, “PROTON is certainly moving in the right direction and this gives us the confidence to pursue the upgrading plan. For sure, we can foresee newer and exciting models coming from the partnership with Geely, definitely this will spur further interest from the market for Proton cars”.
He added, “The new façade will also boost customers’ confidence of the brand – people generally like brands which are able to embrace change and move with the times”.
“Moreover, since Geely came on board, it also brought with it quality assessment based on global standards which is the same as the one being used in Volvo. Already we can see improvements in the quality of Proton cars these days. This is evident based on a recent Geely audit whereby the quality has increased triple fold,” added Rozlan.
Furthermore, he mentioned, “What this also means is that the future cars, especially the upcoming PROTON SUV, will be of a world-class quality, powered by high technology and modern features, fit for a modern day-SUV most Malaysians can feel proud to own”.
As for Philip Jason How Eng Thye of Regal Motors Holdings Sdn Bhd, “We truly believe in the future and the turnaround of PROTON. The upgrading of the outlet comes naturally because we know, as dealers, we not only sell cars but also, we need to provide a holistic experience to customers which includes sales and after sales services”.
