1- Break your fast with dates
Start with the traditional Ramadan superhero fruit – DATES. These little mushy bites are highly nutritious and provide you with a burst of natural sugar that replenishes your body with well-needed energy. Combine it with a glass of water, and you’re ready to move on to the main dish!
2- Complex carbohydrates and legumes
Don’t forget your whole wheat bread, brown rice, whole-grain pasta, chickpeas, lentils, and other foods rich in complex carbs, fiber, and minerals. These ingredients provide a sustainable source of energy that your body craves after a long day of fasting.
3- Fresh fruits and vegetables
Mom was right, you should eat your veggies. Greens are low in calories and rich in crucial vitamins and minerals. The more colourful your plate is, the more benefits it holds – at least 2 servings of vegetables and fruits are recommended per day. Do not hesitate to make your plate a little more crunchy and rich!
4- Meats and dairy
Proteins! Who can live without proteins? Although found in vegetables too, proteins in meat and dairy are essential for your body, if you’re a meat eater. Cook some chicken, fish, or lean meat for Iftar, and add some laban, milk, or yoghurt to your meal.
