  • Global supplier network to play key role in achieving climate neutrality by 2040
  • Schaeffler honors 17 suppliers with the Schaeffler Supplier Award
  • Agility along the entire value added chain is crucial for successful business

Global automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler will operate on a climate-neutral basis along the entire value added chain from the year 2040. Internal production will operate with zero CO2 as early as 2030. In support of this goal, Schaeffler is increasingly relying on a partnership network of suppliers who are committed to the sustainability targets set by the company along the entire value added chain. At the Schaeffler Supplier Day – the most important supplier conference of the year with around 500 internal and external participants – the subject of sustainable supply chains occupied center stage. “Schaeffler promotes resource-friendly action and sustainable production along the entire value added chain,” says Andreas Schick, Chief Operating Officer at Schaeffler AG. “Our suppliers represent major instigators in the bid to reduce greenhouse gases. We are having to rethink materials and reconfigure the processes used to produce them. We expect our suppliers to follow suit. By working together in this way, we will succeed in achieving climate neutrality by 2040.”

Schaeffler also regards agility as pivotal to market success, particularly in volatile times. “Schaeffler is relying on flexible and agile partners, who can be trusted to operate proactively in taking steps to secure the supply chain,” emphasizes Andreas Schick. “For us, a high level of delivery reliability and rapid volume adjustments are key to enabling consistent and economical operations in agile market situations.” Schaeffler looks to its partners for innovation and state-of-the-art technology, superior quality and optimized added value. The company will also be stepping up its activities in monitoring for consistent compliance to sustainability requirements, particularly when awarding new business.

Andreas Schick honored the best suppliers at the Schaeffler Supplier Day. A total of 17 suppliers, including nine from Germany, received the Schaeffler Supplier Award for outstanding collaborative achievements.
