MOBILITY AND ENVIRONMENT:
STICCHI DAMIANI (ACI):
FROM TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION A FUNDAMENTAL CONTRIBUTION BUT GREENER AND SAFER MOBILITY IS ABOVE ALL CULTURAL QUESTION
FUSCO (CARACCIOLO FOUNDATION):
ECOLOGICAL TRANSITION AND ELECTRIFICATION ARE RATIONAL AND INCLUSIVE, ASSESS THE IMPACT ON INDUSTRY, EMPLOYMENT, DEPRESSED AREAS, WEAK SOCIAL BANDS
“ACI’s commitment has always been to make people move in the best and least impactful way possible from an environmental point of view. Not only by trying to reduce the impact of certain inevitable strains we make on nature, but to overcome them, also thanks to the contribution that is offered to us by technological innovation. In fact, progress is not always the problem. Often, it can represent the solution, as in matters of safety, a fundamental issue, since the loss of human life – I am referring to the dead and injured on the roads – represents the first and most serious environmental impact “.
This was stated by the President of ACI, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, speaking yesterday evening in Rome at the Opening Event of the photographic exhibition “Emotions to generate change”, on the occasion of the celebration of the seven years of the Encyclical “Laudato si ‘” of Pope Francis, a project sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the Department of Culture of Rome, Rai per il Sociale, Religion Today, the Symbola Foundation, Assobenefit and Cultura Italiae.
“In terms of safety – underlined Sticchi Damiani – new technologies are able to offer a decisive contribution. I am thinking, for example, of ADAS or autonomous cars, which will make it possible to reduce the risk of accidents to practically zero. The greatest contribution, however, will come from the culture of safety and respect for the environment, which we will be able to transmit to the new generations, teaching them not only to respect but to increase the beauty of the common home in which we all live, as the words teach. illuminants of Pope Bergoglio “.
The round table – organized by the cultural entrepreneur Claudia Conte, in collaboration with the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development of the Holy See and Aurora Vision – was attended by Paolo Ruffini – Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See, Father Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam – coordinator of the Ecology and Creation sector of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, Miguel Gotor – Councilor for Culture Rome, Lia Beltrami – Art Director of the exhibition, the Honorable Mauro Del Barba – President of Assobenefit, Ermete Realacci – President of Symbola and Honorary President of Legambiente and Giuseppina Fusco, President of the Filippo Caracciolo Foundation.
Giuseppina Fusco underlined how the ecological transition and the transition to electric mobility must take place rationally and gradually, without leaving anyone behind, “carefully evaluating the impact not only on the environment and urban context, but also on the industrial and employment system , economic and social, with particular attention to the most depressed areas of our country and the world, and to the weakest segments of the population due to physical, geographical, environmental, economic and social conditions “.
