Wuling Air EV Makes Global Debut in Indonesia

2022-06-02

SHANGHAI – Wuling Air, an electric vehicle that GM’s joint venture SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) plans to leverage to tap the global market, made its global debut in Jakarta, Indonesia, yesterday.

Empowered by the locally developed Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, Wuling Air will start sales in the second half. It will be the first EV model that SGMW sells outside of China and has been selected as the official car partner for the 2022 G20 Summit to be held in Indonesia this November.

With significant economies of scale and flexibility, the new model will enable SGMW to strengthen its leading position in EV manufacturing and sales in China. It will complement the joint venture’s current EV portfolio, including Wuling Hong Guang MINIEV, Wuling Nano EV and Baojun KiWi EV.

SAIC-GM-Wuling is a joint venture of GM, SAIC and Guangxi Automobile Group based in Liuzhou, Guangxi. In 2021, SGMW exported over 140,000 units from China to more than 40 countries and regions.

General Motors (NYSE:GM) is a global company focused on advancing an all-electric future that is inclusive and accessible to all. At the heart of this strategy is the Ultium battery platform, which will power everything from mass-market to high-performance vehicles.
