MOSCOW, June 10. /TASS/. Russia and Turkmenistan need to develop economic cooperation using the potential of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), says a joint declaration by the countries’ leaders, Vladimir Putin and Serdar Berdimuhamedov, signed at their talks in Moscow on Friday.
“The parties expressed their intention to intensify trade and economic cooperation using the potential of the Eurasian Economic Union,” the declaration on deepening the strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan says.
“The parties intend to give impetus to cooperation on agriculture and the systematic development of relations through the agro-industrial sectors of Russia and Turkmenistan, including in order to increase the volume and expand the supply of agricultural products and food to the markets of both countries,” the declaration stresses.
The document specifies that Moscow and Ashgabat “will make joint efforts to create logistics and wholesale distribution centers for fruits and vegetables in the territories of the two states.”
The Russian Federation and Turkmenistan want to give priority attention to “the development of industrial cooperation and intend to expand long-term mutually beneficial ties through the implementation of joint projects.”
The parties welcomed “the interaction of Russian and Turkmen companies on mutual deliveries of automotive and specialized equipment, pipe products, as well as energy equipment.”
The declaration also states the intention to intensify the work of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and plans “to make joint efforts to consistently deepen investment cooperation, increase the volume and expansion of mutual trade in the coming years, as well as to remove obstacles hindering its development.” The leadership of the countries intends to support the activities of the chambers of commerce and industry to expand direct contacts between entrepreneurs of the two states.
