PROTON continued its excellent start to 2019 as registrations for February 2019

Subang Jaya, 6 March 2019 – PROTON continued its excellent start to 2019 as registrations for February 2019 totalled 5,283 units. The numbers represent an estimated market share of 12.7%, an increase of over 3% compared to the same month in 2018.

Overall sales growth higher than all rivals

With February being a short month and traditional low period for car sales in Malaysia, due to Chinese New Year holidays, the majority of automotive brands projected a slower month. PROTON however bucked the trend as sales showed a healthy increase of 37% year on year. Therefore for the first two months of 2019, sales have grown by a cumulative figure of 42% over 2018.

As a result, PROTON leads all its rivals for sales growth for a second consecutive month, comfortably reinforcing its position as the third best-selling automotive brand in Malaysia and eyeing a possible return to second place by the end of the year.

Subang Jaya, 25 February 2019 – The first official photos of the face lifted Proton Persona, PROTON’s award winning B-segment family sedan, have been released. Set to be launched in 2019 the Persona, together with its sister car the Proton Iriz, are the first models in the Company’s current range to be given an extensive exterior refresh since the commencement of the collaboration with Geely in 2017.

Redesigned exterior adopts new family design elements
The new exterior lines portray an image of intelligent connectivity coupled with elegant aesthetics with subtle updates that make the Persona stand out from its predecessor. It also carries PROTON’s new family design elements that will be present on all future models to visually link them together.

Subang Jaya, 1 November 2018 – Following a month of market correction in September due to the introduction of Sales and Service Tax (SST), sales for PROTON cars grew by 12.6% in October. 5,093 units were sold, an increase of 569 units over the previous month and a slight improvement over the corresponding period in 2017. Market share as a percentage of the Total Industry Volume (TIV) is estimated at 10.7% which is in line with the average figure for the year.
Sales growth fuelled by promotions and quality improvements
While PROTON’s overall market share contracted in October, the sales volume it achieved is the highest for 2018 outside of the bumper sales period from June – September, which was fuelled by a zero GST tax environment. With the much-hyped Proton X70 launch only occurring later in the year, the growth points towards customers showing renewed interest in the current range of Proton cars.

Petaling Jaya, 14 September 2018 – Atiara Johan Sdn Bhd has officially launched its new 3S dealer outlet here today. The event was officiated by Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, in the presence of PROTON’s senior management members.

Subang Jaya, 3 September 2018 – The recent trend of posting strong sales numbers for PROTON continued in August 2018 as the company set a new high point for monthly sales in 2018 for the third consecutive month. Sales grew by 18.5% over July, making August the strongest sales month for Proton cars over the last 36 months. In total, 9,501 cars were sold marking not only a new record for the year, but also the highest sales volume since July 2015.
