German automotive supplier ZF to deliver powertrain for Daimler’s new electric SUV

BERLIN, July 10 (Xinhua) — The powertrain components of Daimler's new electric SUV, the EQC, will come from German automotive supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG, announced Wolf-Henning Scheider, chief executive officer (CEO) of ZF, in an interview with the newspaper Stuttgarter Zeitung on Wednesday.
Germany's third largest automotive supplier will provide the “complete driveline module” for Daimler's EQC family, from electric motors to single-gear transmissions with differentials, as well as the control software, Scheider explained.
The order placed by Daimler was “an important milestone,” Scheider said, but did not specify the volume of the powertrain order. It is up to Daimler to reveal any “details” of the deal, he said.
Last week, ZF already announced its “second largest single order” by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) for eight-speed automatic transmissions, which “feature an integrated electric drive for hybrid variants.”

FAW sees strong H1 sales of Hongqi models

China’s leading automaker FAW Group posted a skyrocketing year-on-year increase in the sales of its Hongqi-brand vehicles in the first half of the year (H1).The company’s Hongqi production workshop based in Northeast China’s Jilin province sold 33,242 vehicles in H1, up 255 percent year-on-year.The sales boom was attributed to the company’s launch of two models including a new Hongqi H5 and the brand’s first pure electric SUV E-H3, since the beginning of this year.

Kamaz to deliver knocked down kits to Azerbaijan

EKATERINBURG, July 8. /TASS/. The Russian truck maker Kamaz clinched a deal with Azerbaijan’s Ganja Automotive Plant for supply of knocked down kits worth 400 mln rubles ($6.3 mln), the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said in its press release on Monday.
“We are successfully implementing the Kamaz vehicles assembly project launched in cooperation with the Ganja Automotive Plant. Kamaz is viewing an opportunity to expand the model line assembled in Azerbaijan over time on account of Kamaz-65117 dropside truck tractors and Kamaz-6520 heavy dump trucks,” Minister Denis Manturov said, cited by the Ministry.
Kamaz is one of leading global manufacturers of heavy trucks and diesel engines. The process chain of the group comprises eleven large automobile and auxiliary plants.
