Sant'Agata Bolognese, 22 May 2017 – Automobili Lamborghini continues development of its production site, announcing construction of a paint plant. The new building will be completed by the end of 2018 and will be used to paint the body of the Urus SUV, which is scheduled to arrive on the market next year.
The paint plant will extend over more than 10,000 square meters, further expanding the production site, which will extend from the 150,000 sqm, envisaged and reached up by end of 2017, to a total of more than 160,000 sqm of covered area.
The new paint facility will also impact favorably in terms of human resources: approximately 200 new hires will be made by the time the plant reaches full production capacity, adding to 500 jobs created due to the third Lamborghini model.
Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lamborghini, remarked: “We are very pleased with this result, which represents another step on our path of strategic expansion. Thanks to the support and faith of our shareholder AUDI AG, a decision was taken that most effectively safeguards our know-how, job growth in the territory, and brand identity.”
The new plant will benefit from the most advanced technological systems with low environmental impact. A staff of highly-skilled workers will guarantee the highest standards of quality on products characterized by a high level of customization.
The confirmation was favored by a recent organizational agreement made between the company and the union regarding the system of work shifts, aimed at making expansion highly attractive in terms of competitiveness and cost control.

“The new Aventador S Roadster sets new benchmarks in technology and performance on both road and track, with the roadster version adding a new dimension in driving enjoyment,” says Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Stefano Domenicali. “The Aventador S Roadster offers the thrill of open air driving without compromising on driving dynamics or the occupants’ comfort, and adds a further luxurious dimension through the personalization options available.”
The Aventador S Roadster is the only mid-rear engine V12 super sports roadster. Alongside class-leading performance figures, the roadster’s unique status is enhanced by multiple color and trim options, including new materials and extensive use of carbon fiber as well as virtually limitless potential through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam personalization program.
Air and space – the aerodynamic roadster design
The roadster maintains the unmistakable design of the Aventador S along with unique features reflecting its roadster persona: a combination of distinctive Lamborghini design DNA and the result of extensive aerodynamic testing.
The car’s rear sports distinctively different lines to the coupé, giving the roadster its own aerodynamic character. An engine bridge runs from the back window to the rear in a mix of body color and matt black painted carbon fiber engine bonnet blades: a transparent option is also available to show off the V12 engine within. Sleek, removable, hardtop roof panels, weighing less than six kg, are convexly molded to ensure maximum cabin space for the occupants. Finished in matt black carbon fiber, optional specifications including high gloss black, shiny visible carbon fiber, and further Ad Personam possibilities. An easy fastening system allows the roof panels to be quickly removed and stored in the front trunk.
The rear window is electrically operated at the push of a button for drivers wanting to hear the beat of the V12 powerplant: while closed during roofless driving, the window minimizes cabin noise and airflow.
Color and trim, inside and out
Complementing external colors, five interior configurations are offered, featuring leather and Alcantara in single and bi-color combinations and various stitching and trim choices. Further external and internal packages such as ‘branding’ and ‘carbon fiber’ are offered, with the Ad Personam program for clients wanting to customize their Aventador S Roadster even further.
Clients can also select the internal specification of the roof panels: covered in black Alcantara framed by matt black carbon as standard, an optional Carbon Skin package (Lamborghini’s high tech fabric that is even lighter than Alcantara) can cover the interior roof panels as well as around the cockpit and parts of the cabin.
The Aventador S Roadster is launched in the Ad Personam Color Blu Aegir, inspired by the peaceful turquoise ocean hiding an indomitable force beneath: sophisticated yet powerful, with extensive use of carbon fiber.The wing mirrors and windscreen frame are finished in high gloss carbon fiber while the lower part of the car including front and rear bumper, side skirts, air intakes and outlets are in visible carbon fiber.
The configuration internally demonstrates the potential of the Ad Personam program, using Blu Delphinus leather contrasted with Bianco Polar, with Blu Delphinus S-trim stripes on seats, doors and dashboard and even the floor mats in blue and white.
Aventador S Roadster – design and technologies
The Aventador Roadster’s ‘S’ suffix denotes the design and technology advancements of the new model. The Roadster adopts the four-wheel drive, new active suspension, new four-wheel steering system, and the new EGO driving mode introduced on the Aventador S coupé, and with the redevelopment of every aspect of suspension and electronic control systems, its ‘total control concept’ assures superior drive, ride and performance.
Enhanced lateral control from the new four-wheel steering provides improved agility at low speed and more stability at high speed, combined with Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS) for responsive feedback and sharper turn-in. Improved vertical control comes from updated pushrod suspension, new rear springs and Lamborghini Magneto-rheological Suspension (LMS) with revised kinematics adapted to the new four-wheel steering. A new real-time variable damping system optimizes wheel and body control and balance and ground stiffness is maximized.
A optimized ESC system improves longitudinal control for faster and more precise management of traction control and vehicle dynamics depending on driving mode selected, maximizing grip in all conditions and enhancing handling. The permanent four-wheel drive’s calibration allows for the stabilizing effect of the new rear-wheel steering, allowing more torque to the rear axle: when powering off, less torque is shifted to the front axle to allow a sporty but safe drive.
The active rear wing optimizes the car’s aerodynamic balance depending on speed and the selected drive mode, and its significantly enhanced overall aerodynamic design improves front downforce by more than 130% over the previous Aventador. With the wing in optimum position the roadster achieves over 50% overall efficiency at high downforce and in low drag more than 400%.
The Aventador S Roadster’s four driving modes allows selection of STRADA, SPORT and CORSA and the new EGO mode, each influencing every aspect of the car’s behavior through management of traction, steering and suspension. EGO allows the driver to set up his preferred criteria in each mode to suit his driving style.
Accelerating 0-100km/h in just 3.0 seconds, with a top speed equal to the Aventador S coupé of 350 km/h, the Aventador S Roadster weighs just 50 kg more than the coupé. Its 6.5 liter V12 engine outputs the same 740 hp as the coupé, with 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The seven-speed lightweight Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) transmission provides robotized gearshifts in up to 50 milliseconds, with carbon ceramic brakes as standard. Dione 20”/21” rims are fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires especially developed for the Aventador S. Inside, the TFT digital dashboard can be customized to the driver’s preferences and Apple CarPlay™ is standard.
Price of the Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster and market delivery
The first customers will take delivery of the new Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster in February 2018 at suggested retail prices as follows:

Sant’Agata Bolognese, October 9, 2017 – Automobili Lamborghini has debuted its new corporate identity in North America with two dealership grand opening celebrations on consecutive evenings in both Toronto, Ontario and Sterling, Virginia.
The exclusive VIP events in Toronto and Sterling on 5 October and 6 October, respectively, included attendance by Lamborghini’s global Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Stefano Domenicali.
The grand opening of Lamborghini Uptown Toronto marks the debut of the re-design in Canada, an international hub offering great visibility for Lamborghini brand. Canada is now the fifth largest market for the brand around the world yielding record sales following its third consecutive year of growth.
Lamborghini Sterling, which is located in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is the first U.S. showroom to feature the brand’s new design. The Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Armando Varricchio, was also on hand to commemorate the occasion alongside other VIP customers and notable guests who came out to support the new Lamborghini store.
The redesigned showroom environments reflect the need for increased space as Lamborghini accelerates its model expansion and double its sales volume with the launch of its new super sport SUV, the Urus, by 2018.

Sant’Agata Bolognese/Cambridge (MA), 7 November 2017 – Automobili Lamborghini in collaboration with two laboratories of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology marks the first steps of a possible future Lamborghini electric super sports car.
On the occasion of this announcement Lamborghini presents the new design concept “Lamborghini of the Terzo Millennio”. The concept physically imagines design and technology theories of tomorrow, while sustaining the visual intrigue, breath-taking performance and, most importantly, the visceral emotion found in every dimension of a Lamborghini. It is made for future super sports car enthusiasts.
The technological goal of the project is to enable Lamborghini to address the future of the super sports car in five different dimensions: energy storage systems, innovative materials, propulsion system, visionary design, and emotion.
The first two dimensions are conceived together with the two laboratories at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology: the “Dinca Research Lab”, led by Prof. Mircea Dinca, Department of Chemistry and the “Mechanosynthesis Group”, led by Prof. Anastasios John Hart, Department of Mechanical Engineering. The collaboration is substantially financed by Automobili Lamborghini and intended to lead to radical innovation in energy storage systems technology and material science.
Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, says: “Exactly one year ago we have signed an agreement with the MIT-Italy Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology which marked the start of a collaboration between two outstanding entities for the creation of a project that intends to write an important page in the future of super sports cars for the third millennium.
Collaborating with MIT for our R&D department is an exceptional opportunity to do what Lamborghini has always been very good at: rewriting the rules on super sports cars. Now we are presenting an exciting and progressive concept car. We are inspired by embracing what is impossible today to craft the realities of tomorrow: Lamborghini must always create the dreams of the next generation.”
Energy Storage SystemsThe strategy of creating super sports cars with uncompromising performance generates Lamborghini’s motivation to revolutionize the approach to energy storage, moving away from conventional batteries and investigating the potential of supercapacitors to equip the Terzo Millennio.
This is in line with the application of low voltage supercapacitors in the V12 Aventador, which started five years ago. The next logical step is the development of a storage system able to deliver high peak power and regenerate kinetic energy with very limited influence from aging and cycling during the vehicle’s life, and with the ability to symmetrically release and harvest electric power. Thus, the collaboration with Prof. Mircea Dinca is aiming to overcome the limits of today’s technology and close the gap on conventional batteries’ energy density while preserving the high power, symmetrical behavior and the very long lifecycle related to supercapacitor technology.
Prof. Dinca says: “The new Lamborghini collaboration allows us to be ambitious and think outside the box in designing new materials that answer energy storage challenges for the demands of an electric sport vehicle. We look forward to teaming up with their engineers and work on this exciting project”.
Innovative materialsTo support this revolution in energy storage systems, materials and their functions have to change, too. Lamborghini aims to further develop its leadership in the design and production of carbon fiber structures and parts, enhancing its ability to develop features and functions that take lightweight materials to the next level.
For this reason, the cooperation with Prof. John Hart will investigate the new manufacturing routes for carbon fiber materials constituting the bodyshell of the Terzo Millennio, which will also act as an accumulator for energy storage and enable the complete body of the car to be used as a storage system. Prof. Hart says, “we are thrilled to combine our expertise in advanced materials and manufacturing with the vision and support of Automobili Lamborghini, and to realize new concepts that will shape the future of transportation.”
The project also aims to combine the technology to continuously monitor the whole carbon fiber structure, both visible and invisible, with the concept of “self-healing”: the target is to provide the Terzo Millennio with the ability to conduct its own health monitoring to detect cracks and damages in its substructure derived from accidents. In this case a self-repairing process starts via micro-channels filled with healing chemistries, reducing to zero the risks of small cracks propagating further in the carbon fiber structure. This allows further weight reduction with increased use of carbon fiber or the application of CFK to high-fatigue parts.
Propulsion SystemThe energy storage system goes hand-in hand with performance: each wheel incorporates an integrated electric engine, perpetuating the commitment to four-wheel drive and in the meantime harvesting the opportunities provided by electric motors: high torque, reversibility, and the possibility of moving energy by wire. The Terzo Millennio therefore also embodies the first steps for Lamborghini to go in the direction of creating a “Lamborghini Electric”. Moving the electric motors into the wheels has another positive effect: freedom for designers and aerodynamicists.
DesignThe Terzo Millenio is the visionary outcome conceived by the Lamborghini Centro Stile to express future design elements, taking into account the radical changes in technology and anticipating elements of forthcoming Lamborghini design. An example for a very strong statement is the evolution and further development of the Lamborghini typical Y-signature in the front and rear lights.
As a result of the change in technologies the design can be a radical expression of aerodynamic supremacy, based around an entirely new architecture, totally dedicated to perfecting airflow. A highly advanced monocoque based on Lamborghini’s Forged Composite technology can be modelled, containing only the energy accumulation system and driver’s and co-driver’s seats, inspired by race cars.
EmotionFundamental to a Lamborghini hypercar of the future is sustaining the emotion of driving a Lamborghini, and an immersive driver experience. The responsiveness of the electric motors, the four-wheel torque control and the dynamic body control system will enhance the driver’s experience, projecting it into the third millennium. Finally, the consequent aerodynamics and innovative lightweight approach will result in a new dimension of longitudinal as well as lateral dynamics, in this combination until today unknown from electrified cars.
The Terzo Millenio’s virtual cockpit allows more than travelling the highways of a future world: its Piloted Driving simulation allows the driver to be taken around a track such as Imola by a virtual expert before the driver takes over to feel like a ‘pilot’ himself, experiencing the real car and circuit while following the virtual ghost car.

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 12 April, 2017 – Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, inaugurated the Ayrton Senna exhibition at the Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
The event welcomed the participation of Ercole Colombo and Giorgio Terruzzi, curators of the photographic record, and Mauro Forghieri and Daniele Audetto, who attended the test drive in 1993 when Senna drove a McLaren fitted with a Lamborghini engine on the Estoril circuit.
Every race car ever driven by the Brazilian champion is on display, from his debut outing to his tragic accident, heightening the appeal of the “Ayrton Senna. The last night” photography exhibition. The cars on display include the white MP4/8, identical to the one tested at Estoril, along with its engine.
The exhibition is open daily from 12 April to 9 October, including Sundays, from 9.30 am to 7 pm, and runs alongside the Lamborghini Museum’s permanent collection.

Sant’Agata Bolognese/Boston, 18 October 2016 – Automobili Lamborghini has signed an agreement with the MIT-Italy Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The agreement marks the start of a collaboration between these two outstanding entities for the creation of a project that intends to write an important page in the future of super sports cars for the third millennium.
This strategic partnership will enable students and the teaching staff at MIT and Lamborghini engineers to compare notes and work together on mutually interesting, cutting-edge research projects, focusing primarily on new materials in the automotive field, with exchange, collaboration projects and workshops leading to joint research in the chosen fields.
The partnership represents a step into the future for the automotive industry, with the ultimate aim of paving the way for a very ambitious project, namely a super sports car ready for the challenges of the third millennium.

Sant'Agata Bolognese, 30 June 2016 – Lamborghini Magazine, the brand's glossy and multiple award-winning six-monthly publication, will get for the first time augmented reality content starting from Issue 18. Its pages are now enriched with digital elements thanks to an enhanced reality app, “Lamborghini AR”, which can be downloaded free of charge from Apple Store and Google Play Store.
When readers aim their smartphones or tablets at the corresponding symbol they can now access significant additional content from the magazine's pages, which come alive with videos and images to offer a unique interactive digital experience.
In Issue 18 the editorial by Stefano Domenicali, Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, is completed by a video message to readers, while the test of the Aventador in Scotland lets the reader experience all the excitement of driving the Lamborghini super sports car from the driver's perspective. Extra contents take the reader to a front-row position at the launch of the Huracán Spyder in Miami and on a trip sitting in the exclusive interior of the Centenario, the limited series created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of founder Ferruccio Lamborghini's birth.

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 12 June 2017 – Automobili Lamborghini has appointed Paolo Poma as Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director. He will join the team led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Stefano Domenicali, effective immediately.
In his new role, Paolo Poma will be responsible for finance, administration and control, IT, legal affairs, compliance and risk management. Poma will be taking over from Werner Neuhold, who has been appointed Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) at AUDI AG.
Born in Bergamo on 22 June 1966, Poma received his degree in Engineering Management from the Polytechnic University of Milan. He began his career in the construction sector, where he worked in operations, then went on to earn his Master’s in Business Administration from the SDA Bocconi School of Management.
In 2000 he went to work for McKinsey & Co. in Milan and, after two years, was appointed Director of Planning and M&A for Ducati. In 2005, he took over the same position at the Tenaris Group in Buenos Aires.
In 2007, he returned to Ducati, where he filled various finance roles with increasing levels of responsibility, until his appointment as CFO in 2011.
Following Ducati’s acquisition by the VW Group in 2012, he guided the company through its integration into the group and, in 2015, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Italia, from where he has joined Lamborghini.

A new layout in bright colors forms the backdrop for a homepage that scrolls vertically like a magazine and presents the Lamborghini marque using multimedia language of videos and images with strong visual impact.
The new content, which is available in six languages and is designed to enhance your virtual experience in the world of Lamborghini, now includes the Car Configurator – a feature that allows customers and enthusiasts to customize their Huracán or Aventador in every detail with a few clicks.
The newly designed Brand section lets you retrace the history of the brand – from the masterpieces of yesteryear to important personalities in the company's past – by describing the design and innovations that have helped turn Lamborghini into the only marque of its kind in the world.
The Motorsport section has also been revamped. It provides virtual access to the world of Squadra Corse – the Lamborghini racing department. New brand environment heralds forthcoming SUV and increased volumes “Lamborghini and our dealer partners are investing in a bright future”, says Automobili Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali​Sant’Agata Bolognese/Bristol, UK, 22 September 2016 – Automobili Lamborghini is preparing its international dealer network for the future, with the launch of a new dealership corporate identity and brand environment.
The first dealership to sport the new showroom design and service center officially opens today in Bristol, increasing the UK dealer network to eight outlets. The new corporate design will roll-out worldwide to all new and existing showrooms over the next years.
The new showroom environment reflects the need for increased space as Lamborghini expands its model line-up and doubles sales with the launch of its new SUV by 2018.
“Lamborghini is a strong, highly-acclaimed brand worldwide, and our new dealership environment is a very tangible demonstration of this, perfectly communicating our philosophies of Pure, Visionary and Cutting Edge,” said Automobili Lamborghini Chief Executive Officer, Stefano Domenicali. “It is also important that we continue to build a solid, committed dealer network that clearly communicates our brand to loyal and new clients in both the way we look and the way we operate. Both Lamborghini and our dealer partners are investing in a bright future.”
The new showroom exteriors are instantly recognizable by the illuminated Lamborghini shield on a black background that glows at night, and complemented by a black totem sporting the Lamborghini bull logo. The new showroom space is bright and clean, characterized by polygons, sharp forms, raw surfaces and a diffusion of light and color. Opportunities to literally ‘touch and feel’ the world of Lamborghini include digital elements to enhance the customer experience: a client lounge includes a car configuration system to guide the customer through specifying his Lamborghini; product and Ad Personam areas provide samples of exterior and interior finishes and allow clients to physically touch and play with combinations of colors and materials, such as soft leathers or the appearance of carbon fiber.
The range of Lamborghini models is displayed, with a car on a white center-stage uplit by LED lights in a complementary color to its exterior. Video walls give clients and even passers-by an insight into the world of Lamborghini. An area dedicated to Accessori Originali displays aftersales enhancements, and includes a digital experience with headphones and screen to explore and even hear product features such as engine sounds. The Collezione Automobili Lamborghini range of clothing and accessories has a dedicated space in the entrance, visible from both inside and through the showroom windows.
