Data Vantage: Intel Capital backs Biofourmis, Carousell-Heliconia acquire Laku6

Healthtech unicorn Biofourmis received nearly $20 million this week from Intel Capital as part of a $300 million Series D round announced in April.

The startup had earlier received $20 million from venture capital firm Openspace Ventures earlier this year as part of the same round. Intel Capital’s capital injection brings Biofourmis’s Series D equity financing to nearly $220 million.

Other investors in the General Atlantic-led round include CVS Healthcare, which invested $25 million. Its investment in Biofourmis gave it a little over 2% stake in the firm, according to DealStreetAsia – DATA VANTAGE.

Meanwhile, a joint vehicle of Singapore-based online classifieds marketplace operator Carousell and Heliconia Capital has gained control of second-hand electronics marketplace Laku6. The pair said they committed $25 million to invest in and acquire a majority stake in the Indonesian firm.

Lyra SPV Pte Ltd, which is owned by Carousell and Heliconia, holds an 85.6% stake in the parent company of Laku6, while Tokopedia owns the rest.

A regulatory filing showed that Carousell owns 51% of Lyra SPV.

Singapore-based 99.co, a property portal company that also operates in Indonesia, has allotted new shares worth $28.6 million to existing and new investors. The allotment is part of an ongoing round that targets to raise $50 million, led by Hong Kong-based private equity firm Gaw Capital.

Sequoia-backed Indonesian B2B marketplace GudangAda‘s revenue for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2021, rose 9x to $4.8 million.

AnyMind Group Pte Ltd, an e-commerce enabler, announced revenue of $174 million for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2021.

The Singapore arm of Draper Startup House received $1 million from its parent company this week.
