New Mahindra Scorpio N clocks 100,000 bookings in just 30 minutes

Mahindra & Mahindra’s recently launched new Scorpio has set a new record: 100,000 bookings within 30 minutes of online bookings commencing at 11am today. That’s 3,333 bookings in every minute! And the first 25,000 bookings came within the first minute. M&M says this translates into an ex-showroom value of around Rs 18,000 crore or US$ 2.3 billion.

Customers could book their desired variant of the Scorpio-N with a booking amount of Rs 21,000. The Scorpio-N is available in five variants with introductory prices starting from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and applicable for the first 25,000 bookings only.

The introductory prices of the All-New Scorpio-N variants are applicable for the first 25,000 bookings. The prices for the subsequent bookings will be as per the prices prevalent at the time of delivery. Bookings for the All-New Scorpio-N will continue to be accepted online and at dealerships.

As per the compoany, deliveries of the new Scorpio N will begin from September 26, 2022, onwards. Over 20,000 units are planned for delivery by December 2022 wherein the Z8L variant will be prioritised. Mahindra will inform the customers about their delivery date by the end of August 2022.

Earlier today, the booking website handled the huge rush of orders well, but there was a brief glitch with the payment gateway provider. Mahindra says it “would like to assure the customers that their time stamp prior to payment is duly recorded on the booking platform, so each customer will have their rightful place in the order sequence and accordingly the first 25,000 will be considered for introductory prices based on this sequence.”

The huge consumer interest in the Scorpio N is similar, if not better than what the Mahindra XUV700 saw on October 7, 2021. The XUV700 had clocked 25,000 bookings in 57 minutes or 438 bookings in a minute. The XUV700 has gone on to become one of the company’s best-sellers and on July 1, 2022 had a delivery backlog of 80,000 units

Now, with the huge number of bookings for the Scorpio N and also improved supplies of semiconductors, expect Mahindra to speedily ramp up production to cater to the humungous demand for its SUVs.
