HR professionals use professional networks such as Xing or LinkedIn to research details about a candidate – but above all to find talent and write to them directly.
When the chief recruiter Dagmar Zippel has to fill a high position at the management consultancy KPMG, she throws the Google search engine on. Perhaps she will still find one or the other reference to a current publication by the potential candidate on the Internet – or a relevant post that once again emphasizes the candidate’s qualifications.
Many HR departments proceed in this way or something similar. The web and especially the social media channels are full of interesting information for employers. Anyone who applies should therefore always keep in mind that HR managers can also find out about the candidates on the Internet.
