Tatas PV and CV sales up in July

Tata Motors reported sales of 78,978 units for both PVs and CVs for July 2022, registering a growth of 52 percent over the same period previous year when it had clocked 51,981 units. 

In the passenger vehicle segment, the ICE vehicle saw a growth of 47 percent to 43,483 units during July 2022 as compared to 29581 earlier. The growth in electric PVs has been more intense, logging 566 percent growth to 4022 units as against July 2021, when the figures stood at mere 604 units. 

According to the company, its CNG sales for July were its highest ever at 5293 units. The company forayed into the CNG segment in January equipping the Tiago and Tigor with CNG variants. In the ICE, the Punch saw its highest ever tally at 11,007 units since its October 2021 launch. The Tigor too recorded its highest sales at 5433 units in July, the company said.

In the CV segment which has seen an uptick, sales grew 44 percent to 31,473 units when compared to July 2021 when the company registered 21,796 units. Within the commercial vehicle segment, the auto major reported 8522 units in July 2022 for MHCV category, a growth of 57 percent when compared to 5416 units during corresponding period last year. Likewise, ILCV wholesales figures stood at 4475 clocking 33 percent growth over 3357 units in July 2021. Also, the passenger carrier segment grew by 319 percent to 3454 units when compared with 825 units during the year-earlier comparable period. Lastly, even the SCV cargo and pickup jumped by 23 percent to 15022 units in July 2022 as against 12198 units in July last year.
