Foxconn Autonomous Electric Tractors

Agriculture is the next big target for the autonomous vehicle industry. Foxconn agrees.

So far there is still room in this niche of autonomous driving and Foxconn now wants to secure it. The company off Taiwan intends to use autonomous tractors electric drive to build. The production of the vehicles, which include cars as well as tractors, will take place in the USA.

The tractors are built for the Monarch Tractor company. earned for this Foxconn a production facility in the USA, more precisely in Lordstown in the US state, last year Ohio. Series production will start in 2023. The factory was previously owned by an electric car manufacturer that took over the site from General Motors. Foxconn also wants to build the previous factory owner’s pick-up vehicles there.

The tractor is equipped with a 50 kW engine and is therefore able to work for more than ten hours. For the time beyond that, you can change the battery.

The vehicles should be able to navigate autonomously across the field. However, a remote control is also provided. One person can control up to eight tractors at the same time.
