Iconic school bus builder Blue Bird has expanded its electrification ecosystem with the launch of Blue Bird Energy Services, which provides turnkey charging solutions for electric school bus fleets.
Blue Bird says it has nearly 650 electric school buses in operation today. The company builds a full range of electric school bus models, which offer ranges of up to 120 miles.
Blue Bird Energy Services offers various charging options, ranging from AC Level 2 chargers rated at 19.2 kW to DC fast chargers rated at 30, 60, and 120 kW. Chargers feature single or dual charging ports.
The company helps customers to assess vehicle and infrastructure needs and to identify funding sources including grants. It also offers a telematics solution, driver and technician training, and lifetime vehicle service.
“Blue Bird’s electric school buses play a critical role in zero-emission student transportation across the United States,” said Britton Smith, Senior VP of Electrification. “In fact, it takes an entire ecosystem of products and services to enable electric school bus transportation.
