Tata inaugurates all-women car showroom in Hyderabad

Tata Motors and its dealer Venkataramana Motors, has inaugurated the company’s first all-women passenger vehicles showroom in Southern India. Located at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, the  showroom has an all- women team of 20 women who will handle its operations from end-to-end including sales, aftersales, valet services, security, house-keeping to back-end functions, amongst others.

The all-women outlet will be led by  Sahrudayani Vankayalapati who is the director of the showroom. According to  Vankayalapati, with 18 touchpoints exclusive to Tata Motors, the VR Group is spread across various districts of Telangana. “Being at the helm of this all-women team has come as a humble opportunity to me and we will do our best to make this community even stronger as we grow to new heights,” she said. 

Venkataramana and  VVC Group is a large automobile dealership that represents multiple national and  international brands of automobiles ranging from two-wheelers, cars, trucks, buses, tractors and  construction equipment. The company has been in Telangana and  Andhra Pradesh since 1987 with its  association with Tata Motors commencing with a dealership in Khammam in 2010 and later in Hyderabad in 2015.

Rajan Amba, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Care, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said, “From a sales perspective, Tata Motors alone has witnessed a surge in women customers by more than 30 percent , where the average age of our women buyers has dropped from 37 to 34 years, showing an increase in the affinity of young women towards car purchases.”

He added that inaugurating  this all-women dealership is in keeping with Tata Motor’s efforts to augment gender inclusion, not just within the  company, but also in “our stakeholder community and the wider industry”. 

Amba also said Hyderabad is a key market for Tata Motors  and both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are important to its  growth strategy. Highlighting their importance, he revealed that  in FY22, the company witnessed a growth of 82 percent as compared to the previous year  in its passenger vehicle sales portfolio with a market share of 13 percent  in the region. Further, stressing on the importance of  the southern region- Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu — Amba said the company increased its sales network to 319 outlets last year and service centres to 163 stations as of April 2022.

Rajendra Prasad Vankayalapati, Managing Director, VVC and VR Group, said, “With this initiative, we also hope to help bring more diversity to the larger auto sales and aftersales community which has largely been known to be a male-dominated field.”
