HONG KONG — Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) will build an automotive battery factory, the government-owned company has announced, aiming to take greater control over its supply chain.
The new plant will mass-produce lithium-ion batteries for electrified vehicles, using its proprietary lithium iron phosphate, and will have a capacity of 26.8 gigawatt-hours.
