Alibaba pours $913m into Lazada Southeast Asia, making it $1.3b so far this year

Chinese internet giant Alibaba has invested $912.5 million into e-commerce player Lazada’s Southeast Asian entity, according to recent filings with Singapore’s Accounting Corporate and Regulatory Authority (Acra).

This is on top of a recent cash injection of $378.25 million in May, bringing the total investment made by Alibaba into the Southeast Asian e-commerce firm to $1.3 billion since the beginning of 2022. Lazada is majority owned by Alibaba.
