Xiangjiang New Area of Changsha, Hunan province, will allow self-driving taxis to operate all day, which means the city will have the most extensive test roads in China.

The information was released at the 2022 Internet Yuelu Summit, held in Changsha on Wednesday and Thursday.

The area will encourage larger-scale and commercial operation of intelligent connected vehicles, accelerate construction of facilities of smart cities and improve the vehicle management system, it said.

The area open to driverless cars will be 1,200 square kilometers, it said.
