Indonesians brace for higher ride-hailing, e-commerce costs after fuel price hike

Indonesians are bracing to pay more for everyday expenses like transportation, parcel deliveries, and e-commerce following an increase in fuel prices — the first in eight years — over the weekend.

The Joko Widodo-led government on Saturday raised fuel prices by more than 30% across the archipelago in a bid to curb soaring fuel subsidies, which tripled this year due to surging global oil prices and the local currency’s depreciation.
