New Zealand startup hopes to deploy 6,000+ charging stations in Florida

Invisible Urban Charging (IUC), a New Zealand-based firm that was founded in 2019, has announced plans to roll out more than 6,000 EV chargers in Florida. That sounds like a lot—according to the DOE, there are currently 5,023 Level 2 chargers and 1,461 DC fast chargers in the state. However, IUC hasn’t specified a timeline, and has only announced one site so far.

IUC says its strategy is to partner with major property owners to provide on-site EV charging on a large scale. The company offers “an end-to-end EV solution” that provides chargers to customer sites for a flat monthly fee. The only project named so far is a new mixed-use tower called Truist Plaza, located at Church Street Station in Orlando, which was developed by Lincoln Property. Jones Lang LaSalle will serve as an installation partner.

“Lincoln Property is deeply committed to…a Net Zero Carbon initiative, including in those properties where we provide management services for our building owners and partners like Church Street Station,” said Scott Stahley, Executive VP at Lincoln Property Company of Florida. “EV chargers are certainly one part of this solution set, and IUC is one of the best resources that gives us ultimate flexibility in how we deploy and apply these enhancements for the benefit of our tenants and building owners alike.”
