Scandal-hit truck maker Hino ordered to fix ‘serious’ organizational flaws

TOKYO — Toyota Motor unit Hino Motors was ordered Friday to fix a broken corporate culture that led to cheating on emissions and fuel efficiency at the Japanese truck maker, which faces the loss of another engine certification.

Tetsuo Saito, Japan’s minister of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism, called the violations “extremely malicious” and said Hino “lacked the ability to clean house.”
