Worldwide sales of Skoda increased 11.7% in the first quarter, thanks to a record March

Skoda managed to sell 316,700 vehicles in the first quarter of the year, which translates into an increase of 11.7% compared to the 283,500 units it sold in the same period last year, according to data published by the Czech firm.

The brand of the Volkswagen group registered in March the best month in its 123 years of history, delivering 120,200 cars, 10.7% more than in that month of 2017.

By markets, Skoda accounted for 130,300 registrations in Western Europe between January and March, 6.3% more than in the first three months of the previous year; 56,900 units in Central Europe, 7.5% more, and 9,800 units in Eastern Europe.

In addition, in Russia it registered 16,900 cars in the accumulated course, 33.1% more compared to the first quarter of 2017, while in China and other markets it sold 79,200 units, 18.6% more, and 23,600 units, a 18% more, respectively.

Regarding the classification by models, the Octavia was the best selling car of Skoda worldwide during the first quarter of 2018, with 105,700 units sold, 2.62% more than between January and March of the previous year.

They were followed by the Fabia, with 54,600 units (without variation); the Rapid, with 49,000 units, 5.4% less; the Kodiaq, which registered the highest increase with 38,100 units, 710% more; the Superb, with 37,500 units, 2.08% less; the Karoq, with 17,100 units (without variation being a new model), and the Citigo, with 9,700 units (without variation).
