The total number of new passenger car registrations in the EU was 739,037 in August and was thus 3.5 percent above the previous year’s level. In general, there can no longer be any talk of golf dominance in Europe this year. The Wolfsburg compact has just won one month, in March.

Popular cars in 2022: The VW T-Roc has left the VW Golf behind
Before and after there have been many leadership changes, propelling Dacia Sandero and Tesla Model 3 to the top, among others. In the past two months, the VW T-Roc has held pole position. The statistical descent of the Golf comes as no surprise, not even for VW itself.
On the one hand, the group announced its compact electric car ID.3 months ago as the designated successor to the Golf, on the other hand, the in-house competition in the form of the T-Roc, ID.4 and Taigo has recently grown significantly. Against this background, it is also unclear so far whether the series will get a successor again.
