Four out of 10 sales have been of zero and low emission vehicles in September

Electrified vehicles with 8,020 units reach 10.1% of sales in September

Madrid, October 3, 2022.- Alternative vehicle registrations (electrified, hybrid and gas), for the first time managed to position themselves as the first purchase option for users. In this month of September it reaches 38.35% of the total vehicle market, managing to increase its sales by 20.8%, with a total of 30,458 units. In the accumulated figure for the year, they add up to 246,934 sales, with a growth of 19.9%.

For its part, sales of electrified vehicles (electric and plug-in hybrids, including passenger cars, quadricycles, commercial and industrial vehicles and buses) accumulated a total of 8,020 units, which adds up to a growth of 12.7% compared to the same of the previous year and representing 10.1% of the total market. Until the third quarter, 59,824 registrations of these vehicles have been made, with an increase of 26% and a total share of 8.45% of the market.

In the month of September, alternative vehicles exceed sales of both gasoline vehicles with a share of 32.66% and diesel vehicles that account for 28.98% of the total market.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES – Label Zero

Sales of electric vehicles increased by 21.1% in September, reaching 3,829 units registered in this month. It represents 4.82% of the market share in the month. For the year as a whole, sales of these vehicles totaled 25,105 units, 42.5% more than in the same period of the previous year. The accumulated fee for the year is 3.55%

PLUG-IN HYBRID VEHICLES – Zero Label

Sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles grew by 6% during September and reached 4,191 units registered in this month. It represents 5.28% of the market share in September. For the year as a whole, sales of these vehicles totaled 34,719 units, 16.3% more than in the same period of the previous year. The accumulated quota for the year is 4.91%.

GAS VEHICLES – ECO Label

Sales of gas vehicles fell by 12.1% in September to 1,412 registered units, representing 1.78% of the market share in September. In the year as a whole, the sales of these vehicles accumulated 12,409 units, 9.1% less than in the same period of the previous year. The accumulated quota for the year is 1.78%.

HYBRID VEHICLES – ECO Label

Sales of non-plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 27.5% during September, reaching 21,026 units registered in this month. It represents 27.47% of the market share in September. In the year as a whole, sales of these vehicles accumulated 174,691 units, 8.2% more than in the same period of the previous year. The accumulated share of the year is 24.69%.

CAR MARKET

Registrations of electrified, hybrid and gas PASSENGER cars increased their sales in September by 20.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, up to 29,522 units delivered, being the first purchase option ahead of diesel and gasoline passenger cars . In the accumulated figure for the year, deliveries of this type of car maintained their growth, with an increase of 11.7%, to 238,232 units.

In the month of September, electrified cars maintained their growth, reaching a total of 7,461 units. Battery electric vehicles (BEV) increased by 12.7% to 3,287 units in the month, as did plug-in hybrids (PHEV) with registration growth of 5.6% to 4,174 units. In the ninth month, electrified passenger cars account for 11.1% of the total passenger car market.

Although the sales of electrified passenger cars maintain a growing rate that is reflected in the behavior of the market in the month of September, assuming one in ten sales, ANFAC warns that the pace of penetration continues to be slow and is not going to achieve the goal set for 2022. With a total of 55,469 units sold until September, this figure is far from the 90,000 units that would have been necessary to reach the milestone of 120,000 registrations set this year and necessary to meet the requirements to reduce emissions marked by the PNIEC and from Europe.
