edamama appoints former GCash executive as CTO
edamama, a parenting-focused e-commerce platform in the Philippines, has appointed Karen Yang Chiang as its new chief technology officer.
Chiang will manage the company’s product, engineering and project delivery teams, per a statement. In her role, she will focus on developing the technology, architecture and scalability to support the company’s evolution into an online-to-offline (O2O) parenting ecosystem integrating commerce, content and community experiences.
Prior to joining edamame, she led the development and execution of the GCash architecture roadmap as head of enterprise architecture, strategy & innovation for fintech unicorn Mynt.
The appointment follows the company’s $20-million Series A funding round led by the Jakarta-based venture capital firm Alpha JWC in August.
edamama was launched in Metro Manila in May 2020, during one of the world’s strictest pandemic lockdowns, by husband-and-wife founders Nishant D’Souza and Bela Gupta.
