As Bachman-Turner Overdrive once sang, ‘you ain’t seen nothing yet’ when it comes to the BMW M2. Because while the all-new version looks tasty enough, the variants that will follow it soon afterwards will go well beyond this.
When BMW attaches the CSL badge to the boot – and possibly a CS too – these outputs will swell considerably.
Rumour has it that the M Division is going to throw not just the kitchen sink but also the cooker, the cupboards and most of their contents at the more fruity versions of the M2 when they appear next year. They want the petrol-propelled M-car to go out with a serious bang.
So expect the M2 CSL to have at least as much power as the current 503bhp M3. Thus equipped, this could make it one of the fastest-accelerating M-cars of all time.
Plus, of course, it will weigh less than the standard M2 and feature track-focused tyres, suspension and brakes, and will no doubt be able to out-run a helicopter around the Nürburgring in Germany. Should be quite a car.
