Key projects for safe future mobility

Austria is not only a country with the highest quality of life and beautiful nature, it is also a pioneer in research and development in the field of automated driving. With a research rate of 3.26 percent in the current year, Austria occupies a top position internationally and is considered a “strong innovator”. The research bonus of 14 percent is a boost for research into future mobility in Austria. This is what the players in the industry rely on.

The brand new Range Rover illuminates the road with a new type of lighting system from the ZKW Group. The “Digital Light Processing” LED headlights not only generate stepless, glare-free high beam that automatically hides oncoming or other road users. The smart, digital front lighting also makes it possible to project animated images onto the road. In addition to the “Digital Light Processing” modules, stripeZ light modules are also offered, which are significantly smaller than conventional LED headlights – with the same performance. This enables a particularly slim design and a large number of new functional options.

High-tech made in Austria

The DLP lighting system for the new Range Rover is developed and manufactured by ZKW in Austria. A 3-component injection molding technique is used for the first time, which allows the implementation of a new type of daytime running light concept. ZKW also equips the Jaguar Land Rover models with fog lights, the new Land Rover Defender with main headlights and the Land Rover Discovery Sport with rear lights.

Sensory organ for safe driving in the future

“iLIDS4SAM” is another flagship project for Austria’s future in automated mobility. Automated mobility systems are currently moving towards more complex urban traffic scenarios. Under the direction of Infineon Austria, eleven leading Austrian partners from industry and science are pooling their know-how. As part of the iLIDS4SAM project, partners will develop cost-effective MEMS-based LiDAR components and systems with a large field of view and high resolution.
