Waymo’s autonomous beer delivery

Industry leader Waymo performs autonomous deliveries. The goods are beer.

There was a spectacular beer transport about six years ago. In 2016, the startup transported Otto, that along with Anthony Levandowski went down, a load of beer. There are now numerous startups that focus on autonomous transport via truck. But the top dog Waymo is also active in this area.

Even if Waymo leads the development, it needs some positive attention occasionally. Apparently, this is what one expects from a beer transport. The transport of beer is tested under real conditions trucks. Deliveries arrive on time every day CH Robinson-Customers.

During the pilot, a trucking company retrieved the beer from a Dallas warehouse and shipped it to a transfer point, where a Waymo team picked up the cargo and shipped it to a Houston-area retailer. Both the transfer point and the environment should simulate as real an environment as possible.

The goods, delivered unbroken and successfully, totaled over a million pounds of Modelo and Corona beers. In addition to beer, there were also intermittent shipments of Wayfair material. Further pilot projects are being discussed.
