Bridgestone aims to start tire recycling with new tech by 2030

TOKYO — Bridgestone plans to finish developing a new technology for recycling tires as early as 2030 in a bid to reduce the carbon footprint in the automotive supply chain.

The Tokyo-based company aims use a process of chemical recycling that breaks tire materials down to the molecular level for reuse. Tires are first melted, and compounds are decomposed using catalysts at regulated temperatures.
