Audi enters Formula 1 with the Swiss racing team Sauber. The Volkswagen subsidiary also wants to take a stake in the partner, as Audi announced on Wednesday.
In August, the Ingolstadt-based carmaker announced that it would start in the world’s largest racing series for 2026, but left the racing team that is to drive with the Audi engines open. “We are delighted to have found such an experienced and competent partner for our ambitious Formula 1 project,” said Chief Technology Officer Oliver Hoffmann. The company from Hinwil near Zurich, named after company founder Peter Sauber, has been active in Formula 1 for around 30 years.
