Toyota will show the new Innova Hycross in India on November 25, 2022. Price anonuncement will take place at the Auto Expo 2023 that starts on January 11. Ahead of its India debut, the new Innova Hycross is expected to be unveiled globally in Indonesia around November 21, where the vehicle will be sold as the Toyota Innova Zenix.
Toyota Innova Hycross: family looks, more features
The Toyota Innova Hycross will come a large and upright hexagonal grille that looks similar to the one seen on the internationally sold Corolla Cross SUV. Other design highlights at the front will include wide headlamps with two L-shaped inserts, strong creases on the bonnet, and triangular housings on the bumper for the fog lamps.
The new Innova Hycross will come with features like a panoramic sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, wireless charging and an ‘ottoman function’ for the captain’s chairs in the second row.
Toyota Innova Hycross: monocoque with FWD setup this time
The Innova Hycross will be based on a monocoque architecture and front-wheel-drive layout. This is the first for any Innova as the earlier iterations were based on ladder frame setup with RWD running gear. The MPV will be based on Toyota’s modular TNGA-C platform, which allows it to have a flat floor at the rear, therefore, liberating more space for passengers.
The new Innova Hycross will not get a diesel engine, and instead, will be offered with a naturally aspirated petrol and a strong hybrid powertrain, similar to the recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. However, the MPV will use a bigger 2.0-litre unit – in both NA and hybrid guise – instead of the 1.5-litre engine used by the latter. Toyota will also heavily localise the hybrid powertrain technology for the Innova Hycross in order to keep costs in check.
