Sustaining its sales momentum, Skoda Auto India’s factory dispatch numbers were at 3,389 vehicles in October of 2022, posting a year-on-year growth of 11 percent. The company’s retail sales were higher at 4,173 vehicles in October 2022 posting a 29 percent growth in deliveries led by its compact SUV Kushaq.
The strong performance during the festive season will help the company double its annual sales in 2022, said a top company official.
The Czech car maker cumulatively sold about 44,500 cars in January to October of 2022 posting a growth of 41 percent over last year in the same period. Interestingly, the Indian operation overtook the Chinese operation in the first nine months of this calendar year as the third largest car market. This has helped Skoda record its ‘Biggest Year’ in terms of sales in the country.
Skoda is hoping to cash in on demand for safer vehicles. The Kushaq is the first among cars manufactured in India to get a full five-stars for child occupants too. Petr Šolc, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India said, “The full five-stars in adult and child occupancy under the newer and stricter Global NCAP crash test protocols is an extremely important and proud landmark for us. The Kushaq has set new benchmarks for safety, and is the safest car made-in-India. This is positively impacting our sales, as we are continuing our upward and stable momentum.”
The company also announced the introduction of the Kushaq Anniversary Edition. The anniversary version of Kushaq includes a 25.4 cm Infotainment System with Skoda Play Apps. The System is hooked up to a Skoda Sound System with six High-Performance Speakers and a Subwoofer. The Anniversary Edition also lets you connect your smartphone via Wireless Smartlink for Apple Carplay and Android Auto. In addition, there is a whole horde of exterior and interior Anniversary Edition insignia and a selection of external and internal accessories.
