Driven by growing infrastructure spends and public transportation needs, Ashok Leyland has posted a 34 percent growth in the dispatches of its trucks and buses for the month of October.
The Hinduja group flagship company sold 14,863 units in October 2022 versus 11,079 units it sold in October 2021.
For the seven months of (April- October) FY22, the company’s cumulative sales grew by 76 percent to 99,809 units as compared to 56,609 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The truck maker has seen the largest jump of 206 percent in the M&HCV bus segment on the back of various orders from state transport undertakings and the demand emanating from the opening of schools and colleges leading to greater demand for its buses.
The company sold 1,544 units of medium and heavy-duty buses in October 22, whereas the truck sales stood at 7,510 units last month, posting a growth of 35 percent.
Brokerage firms and analysts tracking the company say Ashok Leyland is on a strong footing with efforts made to improve its cost structure and creating new profit/revenue pools with reasonable debt.
