An interactive solar-powered electric vehicle art installation will make its debut at Church Street this weekend. This has been designed as an interactive and engaging experience for the people to touch and experience an EV in real time.
The installation is made out of waste materials, keeping it eco-friendly to encourage people to go green.
The three-wheeler EV will be put up on Saturday and Sunday and will be made out of upcycled material where scrapped metals will be used to make the EV and the batteries procured from an old e-vehicle. The entire installation will run on a solar panel.
The installation has been created as a part of #EVmyDelivery, an initiative under Bengaluru Moving, to promote and enable the city’s transition towards sustainable modes of transportation. And has been built in collaboration with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) and Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL).
Together with Autoguru and Bengaluru Design Week, the event seeks to bring diverse stakeholders from automotive industry, e-commerce, start-ups and design studios to raie awareness about an eco-friendly last mile commute.
Navdha Malhotra, Campaigner with Bengaluru Moving said, “Research highlights that India will have 500 million online shoppers by 2030. The young Indian millennial is conscious about their consumption habits and choices. Through this installation and other initiatives, we want to leverage this consumer appetite to convert brands and companies net-zero and sustainability intentions into real action.”
Commissioner of DULT showed support to the initiative and said, “We are very pleased to be supporting #EVmyDelivery initiative and this interactive installation that is raising awareness about last mile emissions resulting from the e-commerce deliveries and the transition to electric 2- and 3-wheel fleets to eliminate the release of tailpipe emission.”
Mumbai-based artists Radhika and Madhvi of Workshop Q and Bangalore-based artist Rahul KP created the solar-powered EV.
